Scholars in Macau University of Science and Technology Published Paper in the World-leading Academic Journal

On 19th Dec, 2014, Assistant Professor Elaine Lai-Han Leung, Assistant Professor Vincent Kam-Wai Wong, Professor Zhi-Hong Jiang, Assistant Professor Ting Li and Chair Professor Liang Liu (corresponding author) from the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology (SKL-MUST) published their academic paper in the world's top academic journal "Science". The paper titled "Integrated network-based medicine: The role of traditional Chinese medicine in developing a new generation of medicine", has first proposed the concept of “Integrated Network-based Medicine (INBM)" and detailed its basic framework, and also stated that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) will be the cornerstone and play a key role in the development of new generation of INBM.

Faculty of Health Sciences, MUST Held A Workshop to Intruduce The First 3D Interactive Virtual Dissection Instrument in Asia

Aiming to increase Macau medical workers’ knowledge of fundamental anatomy and microanatomy, Faculty of Health Sciences, MUST has purchased a 3D interactive virtual dissection instrument, which is the first of its kind in Asia. On December 12th and 13th, the University Hospital held a workshop to introduce the machine. Prof. Alan Dettan from Standford University in the U. S. and Visiting Lecturer Ross Horley from University of Notre Dame in Australia were invited to explain and demonstrate it.

The Specialty Committee on Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Is Established. Prof. Liu Liang, President of MUST Is the Chairman of the First Council

The Inaugural Conference of the Specialty Committee on Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies cum the First Annual Meeting was held from Nov. 21st to 23rd, 2014 in Guangzhou. More than 300 scholars who specialize in immunology of traditional Chinese medicine and entrepreneurs in pharmaceuticals industry attended the meeting. They were from different countries and regions, such as Mainland China, Germany, Canada, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China) and Macau (China).

MUST Leaps to the 57th in the 2014 Ranking of Top Universities in Greater China

Earlier this week, the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University released the “2014 Ranking of Top Universities in Greater China (RTUGC)”, in which Macau University of Science and Technology takes a great leap from the 72nd in 2013 to the 57th this year, making it remain the youngest and most fast-developing university across the two straits and four regions. The overall distribution of the Top 100 Universities in the Ranking goes as follows: 64 from mainland China, 27 from Taiwan, 7 from Hong Kong, and 2 from Macau.

Nobel Laureate Prof. Jean-Marie LEHN Talked about the Role of Chemistry in the Evolution from Matter to Life

Sponsored by Macao Foundation and hosted by Macau University of Science and Technology, Session Eight of MUST Great Science and Technology Master Seminar Series XVII was held on November 11, 2014 in D Hall of MUST. The guest lecturer for this session was Nobel laureate, Prof. Jean-Marie LEHN and the topic of his lecture was “From Matter to Life: Chemistry? Chemistry!”. Prof. Jean-Marie LEHN first made an introduction to the evolution of the universe since the “Big Bang”, and then gave a systematic account of the history and evolution of chemistry, depicting how, from material to life, the organization of molecules became more and more complex. Prof. LEHN’s lecture was informative and intriguing, bringing inspirations and a broader horizon to the students and other scientists with regard to the goals they aim to pursue in the future.
